"When i was 13 i thought i am going to buy a shop, then make money and buy anthr one... This way at some point, i have a 1000 shops. At 17, i realized there is something called walmart." - Karan Bareja
I was reading my earlier blog posts today and realized that i orignally thought i would do this cool Thought Leader number. And then i totally lost interest in it for about 6 months. 100 Visitors a week when you run a 80 people company who are forced onto the mailing list isnt a pretty statistic for a wannabe blogger who was trying for like a 100 days.
Back then, Analytics suggested that the rest of the guys showed up from google searching for Qwerty Porn. I have even posted comments myself at times to prompt some activity by the Republic of Malta Olympic Team size audience that i had, but since was borrowing most of the thoughts that i couldnt think beyond lame ones like - "I agree."
I guess the guys forced on the mailing list gave a shit (not that much has changed now) and the google wanderers just bounced back pissed. I found renewed interest within myself only in the last 6-7 months when it struck me that i could use this typepad thing like a scribble pad - screw the audience.
Now i Jot down almost any shit i observe so that i can look back at it 10 years later and say - what was i thinking again? (like the whole my diary deal from school). So i am a little active these days, and stats have moved from 100 to 121 a week. Come to think of it, JuxtConsult (disclaimer - its another feather in our cap, yawn!) said the online population grew some 20% last year, maybe there are just more new suckers for "qwerty porn", but atleast the numbers are scaling, you know.
Anyway, a lot of guys loose interest in blogging over a period of time, i remember, 6-7 of us at webchutney started blogging, i think only a couple of us survived. We forced Rajesh Barnwal to become a regular blogger anyway, so he surely doesnt count. Saket was almost hired because he was this rockstar blogger, he is so busy with this webchutney shit on his ubuntu powered laptop now, that his blog hasnt been updated for weeks. My newest partner in crime Rahul also started one, he hasnt updated it for the last 30 days. Tanvi, Iqbal, Sandeep - i remember started one too, cant remember the links. I am sure those links are dead too.
I think this whole "everyone is blogging" scene is also pretty busted. Blogging for masses is just a fad. Like anything for the masses is, like this number was a while back.
In my case, i just might puke on my own thoughts soon. Rest of the 'hello world - this is my first post, whoohoo!" posted on May 2007' will just simply drop off. Maybe most of us really dont have anything new to say. Its like we will get too lazy to even text borrowed thoughts?
Btw, at work, I am pretty fed up with addressing an audience (one or many) which expects you make a point thats smart everytime I open my mouth. So i am going to end this post abruptly. Fuck you all.
