So marketers love this Web 2.0 shit. I have heard some of them ask us - "There is no Orkut or YouTube for 'India'- We want to build one. But first, we want you to sign an NDA."
So here is what not to do with Web 2.0 stuff when u dont understand it well - Just visit this 'unmoderated' promo site for Ponds on Indiatimes - and check out someone called him/herself whore from 'Cunt Lane' saying ponds_is_fucked_up@ponds.com and a gazzallion others Daljits looking to make "friendships" on i-blushed
Now, will the Unilever Global Corp Communication team recieve a google alert and mail themselves a legal notice? While the marketing team loves web 2.0, the corp communication team understands the impact of it on their brands equally well. Wow!
While i type this, i realize this work would be done by a competitor of Webchutney - The thought is really not intended to go there - So here is a disclosure - I am just trying to make a point. We used to see this stuff happen on our UGC sites / discussion boards all the time (I am wont certainly surely say, we still do). But I am sure so we (agencies) can all buy another day from clients and use a script to monitor 'bad and naughty behavior' and additionally clients could pay another 20,000 Rs as a retainer for a content moderator. 20,000 Rs is worth that useless outdoor hoarding in Bhiwadi which anyway has Baba Asarams poster pasted on it...
Hi,
Point well-made (esp about the NDA LOL). Just for the record, the promo was not done by Indigo Consulting. We created the site. The promo was handled directly between the client and the publisher (shame!).
Cheers
